Dr. Sollecito will be presenting a 15 minute talk on Italian Culture and a clinical lecture on, "Oral Cancer and Oral Potentially Malignant Disease: An Update."
This lecture will review oral cancer and oral potentially malignant disease (OPMD) that maybe encountered in daily practice. We will review risk factors for oral cancer and OPMD. The lecture will also review the complexities in the detection and diagnosis of oral potentially malignant disease, and review current surgical and non-surgical treatment strategies in treating those diseases. Finally, this course also will provide guidance on the dental evaluation prior to anticipated cancer treatment and also describe the dental management of the oral cancer patient including long-term follow-up.

- Evaluate the oral cavity and diagnose oral cancer and oral potentially malignant disease.
- Understand risk factors and epidemiology for oral cancer/oral potentially malignant disease.
- Discuss the current rise of HPV and its impact on the prognosis and management of oropharyngeal cancer.
- Discuss surgical and non-surgical treatment strategies of oral cancer/oral potentially malignant disease.
- Manage appropriate pre cancer treatment referrals.
- Describe the management and long term follow up of the oral cancer patient.
