Member Benefits

Complimentary Journal & Newsletter Publications

Members of PCDS receive complimentary issues of the quarterly Journal of the Philadelphia County Dental Society delivered via email, as well as a periodic e-newsletter, Smile Philcodent.  Members also have access to our past issues of the Journal dating back through 2019 on our website here and our past e-newsletters here.

Our publications team works hard to provide our members with the most up-to-date and relevant content from the dental world, often featuring leaders of PCDS and University of Pennsylvania and Temple University Dental Schools as well as PCDS members with varied interests.

Invitation to Exclusive PCDS Events/Meetings

Members of PCDS are welcome to attend any Board of Governor meeting they wish. You can find a list of our meetings on our Calendar Page. Members are also invited to our exclusive study groups/events we host throughout the year.  You can find a listing of all our events on our Events Calendar Page. PCDS has a variety of events we are planning for 2022 from cultural study groups, a summer Family Fun Day, an Ask a Specialist Series and a Dental Conference in the Fall and we encourage you to attend all of them.

Camaraderie and Unity through Organized Dentistry

Members of PCDS are encouraged to get involved and become an active member within the Society. We value your membership and we want to hear your voice. We strive to learn how we can best serve our members and provide them with a worthwhile membership.  If there's an area of interest that you'd like to get more involved with, let us know so we can get you in touch with the correct person.

Historically, we have seen many successful individuals and leaders come from this very society - are you ready to be a part of our new future and make history? Email Lisa Gottlieb if you'd like to get more involved or want to learn more.

PCDS also works closely with the PDA in order to maintain a unity between the State and local district.  At most of our events you will have the opportunity to see and network with leaders of the State Association.

Access to Important Dental Updates

Becoming a member of PCDS grants you access to all the latest updates and news in the Dental Community.  In 2020 and 2021, the Dental Community really came together in regards to handling the Covid-19 Pandemic.  Information was sent to our members regularly in regards to Philadelphia Department of Health guidelines and restrictions, mandates and access to vaccines.

Information regarding changes in laws and insurance in regards to the Dental Community is also provided to all members.

Advocacy in the Dental Community

The ADA, PDA and PCDS all promote advocacy amongst members.  In order to accomplish big things or see changes advocacy in numbers is important.  Not only do we offer chances to advocate on behalf of the dental profession, we offer resources and instruction on how to advocate to your local politicians, healthcare leaders and insurance providers.  In the past, the Philadelphia County Dental Society had a hand in advocating against fluoride in the drinking water and more recently we advocated to the Philadelphia Department of Health regarding keeping the dental offices open during the pandemic and making sure all dental workers had access to the Covid-19 Vaccine in the Tier 1 status.
